The purpose of the Exponents’ Recovery Annex is to bridge the gap that currently exists between Exponents core services and ability to provide an ample number of structured peer support services to our non-HIV positive clients.

The goals of the Recovery Annex are: To promote long-term recovery through a peer support model of Mentoring Circles (defined below), group social and strategy development activities, skills training and recovery community and family support; and to provide a co-learning peer support process that empowers non-HIV positive participants to transfer knowledge, skills, capacities and develop self-esteem.

The objectives include:
1) to recruit and engage 150 non-HIV positive clients (protégés) in year one and 200 non-HIV positive clients per year in years 2-4 in peer mentoring circles, which will facilitate recovery support at all stages including contemplation of recovery through to long-term sobriety;
2) to recruit 30 peer mentors to develop and deliver recovery focused peer mentor circles;
3) to deliver at least 10 peer mentor circles per month;
4) create Peer Coordinating and Quality Assurance Councils that will direct the activities of the Recovery Annex, andimplement a Vocational Center staffed by peers to assist individuals in choosing, finding and keeping jobs and or training.
